  • Do change the diaper often. This is to make sure that the baby is always clean and dry. Check your baby’s diaper more often, and change immediately when it’s soiled.
  • Do use only baby-friendly products. The skin of your baby is still young and sensitive. Hence always use baby products; oil, shampoo, soaps and lotions.
  • Do give more fluids to your baby. This will make sure the urine of your baby is less concentrated and not acidic.
  • Do wash your baby’s bottom. Make it a habit to rinse the diaper area before putting on a new diaper. Make sure to pat with a clean towel to completely dry.
  • Don’t rub your baby’s bottom. This will make the inflammation worse. Pat instead of rubbing.
  • Don’t apply cream to rash. This is a mistake most mothers make. It will irritate your baby’s skin, and slow the healing process.
  • Don’t use corn starch based powders. It exacerbates inflammation, and encourages the growth of yeast on your baby’s bottom.
  • Don’t use plastic pants. Plastic pants have restricted air flow and locks the moisture in. It will only make the rashes worse.

1. Breast milk

This is no joke, breast milk does magic to your baby’s rash. Apply some breast milk onto the rashes and allow it to air dry before putting on a new diaper.

2. Baking soda

Another great remedy for diaper rash. Fill your baby’s tub with some warm water and add in 2 tablespoons of baking soda. It kills any bacteria that is present on your baby’s skin. Make sure not to bathe your baby more than thrice a day.

3. Vinegar

Add about half cup of white vinegar to the rinse you use to wash your baby’s diaper. This will neutralize all the alkaline in stale urine and keep the diaper free from bacteria.

4. Virgin coconut oil for diaper rash

This is the easiest of all home remedies for rashes. This is something that you already have in pantry. Go ahead and use it on your baby’s bottom. Apply a thin layer of virgin coconut oil on a cleansed bottom before putting a new diaper on.

5. Oatmeal

This remedy works for diaper rash as well as for heat rash. Grind some additive-free oatmeal until a course powder is formed. Throw a handful of the powdered oatmeal into your baby’s bath and let your baby soak in it for 15 minutes.

6. Apple cider vinegar

There’s nothing that ACV can’t do. Apparently, it is good for your baby too. Dilute a teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar with half cup of water. Dab some onto your baby’s bottom and allow to air dry before putting a new diaper on.
